News from a Covid affected Bodhgaya
Jeevan Deep 2020
Mansoon greetings. I am fine here with my family and projects. My clinic, sewing centre are running while school is still closed according to Govt. guidelines. The Corona Virus situation of India has become 8 lacs (80,000) affected. The Bihar state in which we belong to is the poorest in India. The virus is spreading very fast because 40 lacs of people came back from big cities. They have no job at all. Nor enough Government support. Many people in Gaya and Bodhgaya are becoming infected.
Therefore Gaya is closed for the last week and Bodhgaya will be sealed from tomorrow. So myself, my staffs and volunteers had decided to distribute food material and masks today.
The masks were mde in our sewing centre. Our target is to prepare many - many and provide many villages. All necessary things price is becoming very high. Petrol, diesel cost is jumped over 80 Rs. Food and materials price is also increasing day by day.
Regarding this auspicious ongoing programe I am sending some photos herewith.sincerelyKailash.
Covid Impacts Continue
There’s no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a compounding effect on the already challenging conditions involved in sustaining the Jeevan Deep program over the past 6 years.
Lives have been uneasy since the lockdown and confirmed cases continue to rise. All offices, schools, festivals, playgrounds, parks, transport systems have been locked down. People have been staying at home, with severe penalties imposed for leaving home without valid reasons, like for getting milk, medicine, vegetables and other essential items.
People have been advised to keep at least a 1 metre distance from other people outside of their immediate household. Thousands of students, migrant workers and other people are returning from Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkota – some by travelling 1,000s of kilometres by foot, bicycle or rickshaw – and must remain in quarantine upon arrival.
These people are the more fortunate ones – many Bihari people are still stuck in the cities and other parts of India, unable to return home.
We pray for their safety and ongoing connection with their families
Thanks for your interest.

September Update from Arjunbigha
I am keeping well here. Hope you are also keeping well with your family and colleagues. The Corona virus number is increasing by 95-96 thousand each and every day. As of today we are at 50 lakh [5, 000 000] cases. Therefore, it looks like there is no chance to open the school this month. It has been closed for almost 6 months, therefore we are providing learning materials to the children in their homes. But, the sewing group and health clinic are running well and regularly. The Health Awareness camp is often in the villages.Regarding the food distribution program, I am sending some photos herewith. Again, I am grateful for your co-operation.
Schools reopening after as Covid lockdowns relax.
